I thought I was through with the series of spirituality and trees, but then a dear artist/writer friend of mine from Santa Fe, Aleta Pippin, sent me this and I had to share it with all of you! Enjoy!
Big old tree gnarled and grand,
standing so firmly rooted in this land.
Embraced by the thick of forest night,
lifting your branches to the sky and light.
How many years have you embraced,
the earth with your grace?
And watched as lovers passed you by,
And assisted little birds learning to fly,
And protected creatures of all size
who came to make their home in you?
I stand in awe before your mass
feeling your life through
the many years passed.
You stand as a sentry,
one with your connection,
in winter, spring, summer, and fall.
You accomplished all life's wonders,
by your presence in this place.
That we could learn from you
and achieve your splendid grace.
